I don’t know about you…but I have a whole ritual I do when I get a new magazine.

Especially my NEW House Beautiful Magazine. I LOVE that magazine!!! I get giddy when I get a new one and I like to get all my ducks in a row before I sit down to read it. Such was the case yesterday when I sat down to read my April House Beautiful. I told myself I had just enough time to look at every page…but not read dive too deep into any articles…sort of like a first pass.

So I began flipping pages…and flipping and flipping and then I got to that page right before all of the main articles (PAGE 71) where the Editor in Chief, Newell Turner, waxes about the inspiration behind this months issue…sort of sets the tone..and BAM…I see it!!!

I WAS SO TOUCHED…I met Mr Turner last year at the design Bloggers conference…we bonded..not over design, but over our dogs and I told myself that one day I would surprise him with a portrait of his beloved dog Jack who passed away. I painted the portrait over Christmas and sent the painting accompanied by that card with a note.

He thanked me SO GRACIOUSLY…and we have had a few emails back and forth. But never did he mention that he included my card in his monthly collage!!! It really was the sweetest thing because unless I had told you this story the only people who would know the meaning behind that card would be he and I…like a secret little extra Thanks and my heart was bursting…the pleasure was indeed all mine!!!
