HAPPY VALENTINES!!! DAY 14 – DOG-A-DAY – MEET “BRODY”

One of the VERY FIRST Pet portraits I ever did was a breed I had never heard of…”THE VIZSLA”

I HAVE since come to KNOW and ADORE VIZSLAS

 MEET “BRODY” THE VIZSLA

“Brody is our 55 pound lap dog!”

“He has earned the reputation for being the neighborhood’s honorary mayor.

He hasn’t met a person he doesn’t like, and he’s the one all dogs love to chase; they hardly ever catch him, though! We adopted him at 10 weeks old and have had 6 years of unconditional love. In 2015, we welcomed our daughter Colette, who has since become the apple of his eye. “

 FIVE FUN FACTS ABOUT VIZSLAS

VIZSLA PUPPIES ARE CRAZY CUTE!!!
  1. Lovingly NICNAMED “VELCRO VIZSLA” Because they are hardwired to stick close to their humans. therefore, they do not do well if left alone for long periods. They LOVE people.
  2. This dog will bark and alert its owners when an intruder is present. It is not considered to be a very protective breed. They’re unlikely to scare off intruders.
  3. You can’t use strong discipline with this breed. Sitting down and having a conversation about inappropriate behavior works best!

4. The aftermath of World War I, followed by the ravages of World War II, nearly brought an end to the breed, however. Fortunately, the Vizsla managed to survive, and the first members of the breed were imported to the United States in the early 1950s.
5. You may need to control his tendency to mouth your hands — provide a box filled with toys so he can carry things around in his mouth.
