DAY TWO – DIY CORNICE REVISITED

THIS WEEK I AM REVISITING MAKEOVERS FROM MONTHS AND YEARS PAST…

HOW  HAVE THEY STOOD THE TEST OF TIME, THE WEAR AND TEAR OF OUR FAMILY OF FIVE.?

ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE DIY PROJECTS HAS BEEN THE
EASY PELMET/CORNICE  BOXES
I was inspired to CONSTRUCT the Cornice Boxes by a post on LITTLE GREEN NOTEBOOK. Jenny had used foam core to make her Cornices and I thought…”What else could be simper…easier, lighter and faster than THAT!”
FOAM CORE BOARD
FOAM CORE BOARD
One might think that something made from craft material found in the School Supply section of the grocery store WOULD be flimsy and lack durability…but NOT SO…these window treatments have held up beautifully!
Master Bedroom9
One of the best parts is that with the FABRIC I used continuous yardage of fabric and NO cutting took place…THEREFORE, when I tire of the fabric, or in the case of Phoebe’s room when we redecorate….I have fabric which can be laundered and recycled!

PHOEBE’S BEDROOM – EASY CORNICE MADE WITH FOAM CORE BOARD
Phoebe's Bedroom - Made over for her 13th Birthday...she wants a "NEW room for her upcoming 17th birthday.

THE CORNICES ARE INSTALLED BY HANGING THEM ON A LINE OF NAILS ACROSS THE TOP OF THE WINDOW SILL. Every once in a blue moon, when the windows are open, a big breeze will knock one down…but THAT is the absolute ONLY negative, and really, we just pop them back up…

Phoebe’s cornices have been up for 4 years as well as our master bedrooms and have certainly held up beautifully…I am going to make a pair for the dining room soon…I will make those a tad larger to accommodate the higher ceilings.

ANOTHER GREAT DIY PROJECT WHICH HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND THE DEVITOS!
