MONDAY MAKEOVER – DOWNSIZING

YOU MIGHT WANT TO SIT DOWN FOR THIS ONE.

THE LONG VIEW OF MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE
THE LONG VIEW OF MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE

We are thinking that the time has come to downsize to a smaller home….and that means…

We will be moving from My Old Country House. Every time I say it out loud I get a bit sad and dizzy …and then…I kind of get excited…and then I get REALLY EXCITED!

I love this house.Adore this house. It was what I dreamed about. Pictured myself in. I have lived in this house longer than I have lived in any single residence in my entire life. We raised our children here…We moved here the Spring of Tate’s First grade year and this Spring he will graduate High School. It all went too fast , it feels like a blur and I would not trade a minute of it…

2004 - PHOEBE'S FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE
2004 – PHOEBE’S FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE….oh my ,seeing this photo I am reminded that when we first lived here there was this disgusting indoor/outdoor carpeting on the front porch…ick.

But it is time. The things that made this house perfect back then have changed. No longer do I have 3 crazy kids running in the yard, riding their bikes, climbing to the top of the Magnolia tree…swinging in circles…Now we have 4 cars parked in the driveway…!!!

This will be a process. The first step will be getting the house ready to put on the market. I plan to blog about it, but much of it will be just spiffing up…so much has already been done. Not much to do but I do plan to paint the pink Living room a pale gray..and the Navy wall in Phoebe’s room the same white as the other 3 walls. I am going to refresh the paint on the kitchen floor….get a storage unit to just clean out stuff….purge …purge…purge….and clean…and clean…and clean….and then…I might clean some more!!!

So here we go…I said it out loud so I guess this is official and by all means if you are in the area or know of someone looking for a Big Old Country House…DO send them my way….

Lets do this!

And I am here to tell you that even with all of the difficulties and emotions, two years later we are so happy we did it. We made adjustments and have settled into a quieter life that a smaller home offers. Good luck!
