MONDAY MAKEOVER – NEW “MAJESTIC BLUE” FRONT DOOR!

To those of you visiting from HOUSE OF TURQUOISE today…WELCOME!!!

I AM GUEST HOSTING on HOUSE OF TURQUOISE TODAY

TALKING ABOUT one of my FAVORITE COLORS… Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue!

HERE IS ANOTHER WONDERFUL BENJAMIN MOORE  AQUA BLUE.

BLUEDOOR

It is called “MAJESTIC BLUE”, and is a cousin to

 “TRANQUIL BLUE” AND “BIRDS EGG”

…in fact the ceiling below is painted “BIRDS EGG” .

I painted our front door at the beginning of this past summer,

IN PREPARATION for a very important photo shoot which I am going to be able to tell you about very very soon…

PORCHCEILING

I repainted the trim and the columns with a $3 miss-tint exterior paint color called “LINEN WHITE” which I absolutely adore…It complements the blues and the grays and hold more interest for me than the plain old “WHITE” I had used before.

What a difference flowers make…porch3

… I have 1/2 way painted the HAINT BLUE ceiling (read more HERE). The ladder and the paint have sat waiting for me to finish since before we left for California…I am hoping for the heat to subside…cooler weather to arrive…soon…..very soon…

PORCH1My remaining Dilemma which I would love your comments ON this:

I did not paint the ‘INTERIOR” portion of the front door…it still looks like this…

entryway1and the hall looks like this…

I love color, and lots of it, I just don’t want to go to heavy on the blues…but then again…it could look pretty good???

Benjamin Moore: "Majestic Blue" front door exterior...should I paint the interior the same color?

  1. I really like it the way it is right now. A vibrant blue on the outside and a “grounding” color inside. Plus, I love the bright square of light coming from the closed, dark door. It’s like a call to go out!

  2. I love the color of the door. But you should get rid of that hideous screen door! I think you should also paint the transom window above in the same blue. As well as painting the interior of the door. I really love that blue!

  3. Blues are so versitile though. It is hard not to use a lot of them because they are pretty and they cover the spectrum of shades. AND blue is such a fun color to contrast against. Blue and orange? Blue and red? They are always such fun pops of color.

  4. I think you should paint it the same color….for the feng shui of the house…..and the haints will be able to get out if they accidentally got in 🙂 ….

p.s. nothing you do looks hideous

  5. That’s exactly what I’ll be doing to my new to my front door soon, very similar colour to yours as we approach summer over here. I have the same dilemma, same colour both sides or leave the inside white. Such a first world problem to ponder 😉

  6. I love the Majestic Blue! Normally I would say absolutely paint the interior door the same color, but I like the contrast between the darker door color and the painted bench. It looks like the bench and the Majestic Blue might be similar??

I’m a big Palladian blue fan too! I just sampled it in my living room at 50%. It’s probably better for a bedroom or a bathroom but I just might go for it in the living room. 🙂
