MONDAY MAKEOVER – SEA SALT LIVING ROOM SNEAK PEEK

THE ROOM IS 75% FINISHED...THE DIFFERENCE IS ASTOUNDING... IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME WHAT A COLOR CHANGE CAN DO!
THE ROOM IS 75% FINISHED…THE DIFFERENCE IS ASTOUNDING… IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME WHAT A COLOR CHANGE CAN DO!

Last Friday…I could not resist the temptation to get in there and start painting the living room, despite the sad fact that I knew I would only be able to make a dent in the work before weekend company arrived and my portrait painting schedule beckoned. Still, the family’s initial response has been overwhelmingly positive…words like “the room looks so much bigger!” and ” It feels so relaxing”.

One unanticipated result has been the way the Sea Salt and the varying browns play together. I think with the previous color, the brown and tans had more of a tone on tone effect, but now…they are a color. The wood and the brown sofa and the belgian linen sofa all look so pretty next to the blue-green-gray of the sea salt. Regarding the pink…while I still LOVE LOVE Love the pink with the spa and the browns, I am not 100% certain that this particular pink is right…I might need a warmer one..so stay tuned…though I will ONLY change it if it makes it better. I have not put the curtains back up…and will after I finish the trim. The color changes all day long…it is so beautiful. It really is NO one color…and I can;t say that about any color I have ever used…it is gray…but next to true gray it is blue, but next to true blue..it is aqua green…so versatile…and soothing.

where is dash?
where is dash?

…..until then..here is a shot I took the morning to went in to paint the second coat…can you spy Dash?

  1. I’ve been checking your blog all day! It looks beautiful. I can’t wait to see more pics. I’m wondering how the warm colors look with it particularly your pinks. And I’m wondering if it’s a serious color. Will your room still have it’s vibrant energy and sense of fun?!?!?

    I can’t wait…

  2. the pinks looks really good though I might change to cabinet pink to a warmer one…maybe….we will see how the curtains look. Of course now I want to NOT put anything on the walls because It looks so clutter free….but I will clutter it up in no time!!!!

  3. Love it! Can’t wait to see what you do with the pink cabinet…I hope it remains pink. 🙂 Just love your use of color! I did see Dash ~ so cute. I love Charlie ~ such a sweetheart. Thanks so much for keeping it real and showing the process or “during” ~

    1. Thanks Pat…it is all me, the good, the bad and the terribly messy. you should see the hallway when I take my photos …where I toss all the stuff…my favorite part so far of the sea salt room is that It is actually really clean for the first time…you would not believe the stuff I found under, behind and IN the sofas…

I do so love my Charlie…

  4. I’m am so excited to see your progress. I have Sea Salt in my living room, and that is what I love about it also. It literally is like 3 or 4 colors in one. It changes throughout the day. Can’t wait to see the end result.

  5. I love it! So, is this Sea Salt a SW color, or did you match it to Valspar Sea Salt? I’ve been dying to paint my kitchen/dining room Sea Salt for quite some time!

    1. Thanks Julie, I used Sherwin Williams Cashmere Paint in Pearl finish. I did try to color match in Benjamin Moore but could not get the exact match, so I used those quarts as the first coat…as they would be covered up anyway….I love it…I am painting the trim today…as we have snow coming down outside which changed my Travel plans!
