SNOWMAGEDDON 2016

HAVING GROWN UP IN NEBRASKA,

where I literally DID walk 10 blocks to school in the snow…

I don’t usually get too worked up about winter weather. But somehow, this year feels different, we have had nearly Spring like temperatures for much of November and December, that I was beginning to wonder if we would segue right into ACTUAL SPRING with no sign of Old Man Winter.

Then the buzz started, the lines at the grocery store, people stocking up and watching the weather channel to see IF we would get  hit and once that was established as a definitive YES…then HOW MUCH. School was cancelled for today late yesterday as they were so certain it would be a biggie. I woke up and went to the gym which was more crowded than I had ever seen it, people thinking like me that they would be getting cosy with comfort foods all weekend, better burn some calories NOW. The first flake fell as I entered the gym and by the time I was finished, our street was no longer visible. It is 11 pm and Cooper is outside on his skis. Maybe this will get old, but right now…this is a BLAST!!!!!

  1. I didn’t know you grew up in Nebraska! (says a fan of your blog from Nebraska) Hope you still have power! Blizzards aren’t as much fun when you lose power or when you have pregnant cows to worry about like we do here. Stay safe and warm, and enjoy the beauty of that white stuff!

    1. Yes, I lived in Lincoln from age 3 to 10. the center chunk of my childhood. We moved to Florida when I was 10. I would love to go back and visit. I loved it there, Thanks for touching base!

    1. Thanks Shelley, It has all been wonderful except the one hour scare we had when Bean took off. He ran back through snow higher than him chasing deer. He is insane. My neighbor finally got him and he has been thawing out since. I honestly thought that was the end of him. So scary.
