You Decoupage a Lamp

Question:
-What do you do when you have…an old lamp…bored kids…
and a hankering to DO something
but you don’t feel like doing any of the 1000 things you
SHOULD do?
Answer:
You decoupage your Red Target lamp!!!!
That’s just what we did…and you can too!

What you need:
  • Lamp, or something you want to cover; picture frame, chair, table top, husband,  ….anything really
  • Glue that can mix with water, like Elmers.
  • Bowl for the water/glue mixture
  • paper to cover and protect your work surface
  • magazine, or pictures you what to decoupage
  • scissors (you can rip your pictures but you might need scissors to trim)
  • optional – paint for trim
  • Varnish to finish it off
  • Bored Kids

..I just wiped the lamp off…that was my “prep”…

I had always wanted to do a decoupage lamp, and the lamp was in the
“should I let this go”? pile, so, we had nothing to lose…
First, we cut up a “Country Living Magazine”…and got some glue…
We mixed the glue 3 to 1 with water… and then dipped the ripped paper pieces in the mixture
and then applied the little pieces in layers to the lamp

the sharp edges were bit tricky…

but we got it covered
and added accents with some gold paint
then covered the whole thing with satin varnish…
and
VOILA!

 Not too shabby!

have you ever done any decoupage?
P.S.
