THE DINING ROOM MAKEOVER!

You know HOW I LOVE to do makeovers
of rooms in my house.
And you know
that it has been a while since I have done a good makeover.
The last BIG one, besides the kitchen cabinets,
was my Daughter’s 13 year old Birthday Bedroom
Makeover almost a year ago.
I have been pretty content with my house.
Sure there is the boys room, but
that makeover,
as well as the bathrooms which need major work,
and well,  finishing the kitchen… those are all  a bit MORE THAN simple
“paint color change makeovers”.
Would that all the makeovers were so easy.
THE Bottom Line –
The Dining room is a dark room.
It gets beautiful light for about one full hour a day
and then for the remaining 23 hours…it is a dark shady room.
It has been many colors, all done
in an attempt to brighten it up
PARADISO

and…all Benjamin Moore:

TRANQUIL BLUE

WOODLAWN BLUE

(I do so LOVE the blues)
…but finally, after exhausting the lighter grayer blues,
I resolved that perhaps
the best choice might be to stop trying to lighten it up
with cool blues
but instead to Paint it a nice Dark color.
So I went with a Benjamin Moore color called
“Fairview Taupe”.
FAIRVIEW TAUPE
FAIRVIEW TAUPE
I adore Fairview Taupe.
Our house has been named “Fairview” since it was
originally built in 1830
(it burned down and was rebuilt in 1880)
so it seemed like a sign…and…PLUS-
It is a gorgeous color!
A grayed down brown with NO red in it, like fertile dry gray dirt.
It has suited me just fine.

But as always happens…the darkness starts to wear on me
and the itch gets too hard to ignore…
and I have got to paint it.
so that is what I am going to do!!!
SO
The new color is going to be…..
Benjamin Moore
“ASHWOOD”

I am so excited that  despite the fact that we are at the beach,
(of course I brought my Benjamin Moore Paint wheels to the beach)
…I called my paint store back home
and ordered the paint to pick up next Monday!!!
This color looks lovely next to the colors in the adjoining rooms:
“Maritime White”- OC 5

,
“Creamy White” – OC 6 (aka “Spring in Aspen”) –

and “Feather Down”- OC 7…

and then…this is my favorite part…

I started poking around the internet
to look for examples of this color to show you and I found this
