I found out last week…
I got a call last Wednesday….
It was the Washington Post….and they said….

THE WASHINGTON POST KIDS ROOM CONTEST WINNER!!!
THE WASHINGTON POST KIDS ROOM CONTEST WINNER!!!

“Lesli…YOU WON!!!”
(story here)

todays paper

There were 2 winners, one by the # of reader votes …..

and a Judges favorite (ME!!!)
…okay I know this is not discovering a cure for anything…
or even an Oscar….
But it was to me
it IS
HUGE to me
It was JUST what the Doctor ordered…
I was so grateful to feel JOY after a pretty
well
“JOY-LESS” stretch.

URBAN OUTFITTERS CHANDELIER

I had a smile on that hurt my face…for hours.

My face hurt.
I was bursting…I could not reach my husband..everyone was  at work
the kids were still at school…
WP asked that I wait until the Article came out
to post the news on my blog….
…Who could I tell??
I had to go teach my Elementary School  Acting/Improv class..
I told the students that if they were good I would tell them my Good news…
….so at the end of the class, one of them said…
“So were we good?”…”So can you tell us your good news?”
….and so I told them…
and they jumped up and down
screaming and shouting
 “YAY! YAY!”
and then one kid said …
“What’s the Washington Post?”

 …keepin it real….

A lovely interviewer from the Post and a super cool photographer came last Friday…
Phoebe’s room has  and probably never will be so clean!
She even got to come home from school to be in the photos…

  2. Oh wow! That is awesome!! I can see why you won. The room is fabulous. I love the pictures of you and your daughter…so sweet!! 🙂

  3. Yes! I voted for you and I totally think you deserved it!!! Great job little lady, and thank you for all the inspiration I find on your blog! You’re awesome 🙂

  4. Congratulations, Lesli! What a totally fun honor to have The Post pick Phoebe’s room for the Grand Prize makeover winner. I really love the color combination that Phoebe picked for her room. And having twin beds in a teenage girl’s room is so incredibly perfect. Way to go!!

  5. Lesli, I voted for you, of course. Late this morning when I finally went out for the paper I looked first at my favorite section HOME and their you were and are. I am so happy for you and Phoebe. Let the good times roll. sally of Arlington, VA.

  6. I’m 44 and I’d love to have that room! It’s no surprise you won; it’s the sort of room you wake up to be happy in–weather you want to smile or not. You did good, so celebrate!
