MABEL, MABEL STRONG AND ABLE…WE SURE MISS YOU UNDER THE TABLE

MABEL Stopped being a dog around year 2 of what would be her 19+ years AS A DOG/PERSON.

MABELLINE

She belonged…or rather owned my friend Nancy…. heart , line and stinker…and they spent the better part of 20 years growing up…forging careers…even garnering a few Oscar Nominations…

579353_10151225902638578_409504036_nMabel was the consummate “Girl’s best friend”…as good a listener as one can find and easy…. not only on the eyes… but to travel  with.

It was not until her very advanced years that she preferred the comfort of her Los Angeles home to the beaches of Florida , but she called wherever she lay her pretty little head…HOME.

  1. Lesli, your portrait of my little monster Mabel is one of my most precious possessions. I don’t know how you did it, but you captured her spirit and my total love for her. Mabel’s running and jumping in fields of gold now and I’ll never stop missing her, but your picture keeps her close to me. Earthquake? Fire? I’m grabbing this painting first. Cannot thank you enough.

  2. There was a second verse to that song. I can’t recall the exact words. It was something about ‘Goosing statues in the park. Sherman’s Horse can take it, why can’t you?”
T he first verse was: “Mabel Mabel, sweet & able, get your arse up off the table, That two bucks we put there is for beer.”
I wish I could remember the words for the second verse! It was really quite funny. In a barroom setting.
