TWO WORDS ABOUT LILLY PULITZER FOR TARGET

BIG BUST

THEY WERE SOLD OUT ONLINE AND IN STORES IN MINUTES!
THEY WERE SOLD OUT ONLINE AND IN STORES IN MINUTES! REALLY A BUMMER…I did get some towels…but the inventory was low and carts were full to overflowing…just not much fun…live and learn I guess….

NUFF ON THAT!

PHOEBE’S bedroom makeover is coming along…

…bit by bit and in between Prom and Soccer and LIFE…the transformation is underway.

Last week, I finished the wallpapering which will be revealed this Thursday. I thought it would take 2 hours…it took 9…my walls reminding me HOW crooked and slanted and bumpy this old house is…I almost threw in the towel and threw away the wallpaper about 100 times but I hung in there and miraculously…got it done…and I ACTUALLY think it looks GREAT!

It was a beautiful weekend here…perfect for PROM and spray painting furniture outside…

the hutch was yellow….

I will miss the the yellow hutch...
I will miss the the yellow hutch…I love when Phoebe has it all jammed packed with her LIFE!

BUT she wanted it white and gold…so….

DOGS HUTCH
…if this photo had sound you would hear a frustrated BEAN howling for Charlie to give him back his bone!!!!

DOGS HUTCH 2 DIPPED HUTCH

I want to wait until the final room reveal to put it all together….

Phoebe has two sconces in her bedroom, over the fireplace mantle. They get used rarely and right now it is not in our budget to replace them…Phoebe came up with the idea to just paint them…and so I did!

  1. The room is looking great. And Phoebe looked so pretty for the prom! I love the blue on her.

Regarding the Lilly Pulitzer debacle at Target, I think greed brings out the worst in people. I got to Target at 8:05 and there was basically nothing left. I wasn’t really interested in the clothes for myself, but I thought I might get something for my 23 year old daughter. But only a few XXLs left. Yet I saw people checking out with a cartful of clothes with the same pieces in multiple sizes. One worker told me that the “ladies” we’re just grabbing things and throwing them in their carts, scooping up several things at a time. I guess they should resort to handing out numbers with a limit of one dress per person, just like they do when I go to buy a new Wii or Xbox for my sons. (Lol) I went over to the home section and all that was left was one set of wine glass markers, a couple of candle holders, a hammock, and one sling chair. I almost bought the sling chair, but I was worried about the plastic pieces on it. And when my husband, who was with me, looked at it, one of the wooden dowels cracked in his hand. I did find a set of the tall skinny glasses that someone must have put down elsewhere in the store, and I bought those. I like them; they are pretty. My husband was astounded, but unfortunately I was not surprised, only disappointed. There was a radio report later how the website was flooded. Good thing I didn’t even attempt to get one of the swim suits for my daughter. Never again.

    1. I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree! It was bordering on just plain Gross at Target…and I do not understand why it has to be this way? Couldn’t they have enough for everyone ..make it an ongoing sale…oh well..like I said, live and learn and I am like you…I did not like seeing what people became..over Lilly…I mean…she would be so sad.

  2. The LP hoarders are scalping them off on Ebay….of course. The hutch is so sophisticated, even though I loved it in its former yellow, too!

    1. Figures (about the LP hoarders) It defeats the purpose of saving on Lilly…it will interesting to see how the 14 day return policy changes things…anyway Life is too short to bother much with it…right?

I miss the yellow too…the white looks great and it is what she wants but between you and me…I would have love to do a pale periwinkle….and gold…how pretty would that be?

      1. I think I like that “LP Hoarders”..it was not fun to see in person. I got there just before 8, and there was a line in my tiny town. By the time I reached the entrance…the women’s section and the kids had been completely emptied!

  3. I must discuss the most beautiful part of your posting first…….that would be Phoebe! That dress! She looked beautiful !!!!! Now for the rest, I love the new bookcase painting and the wallpaper. This room is going to be gorgeous when it’s done.

    1. awww Betsy, you are so sweet, I did think my sweet girl looked so beautiful and more importantly she had a wonderful night. I was lucky to be the photographer at the prom so I got to grab a sneak peek at them in all their beauty…it really was magical…

  4. First, she looked so lovely and lady like for her prom. So beautiful. The hutch and the gold sconces have me wanting to see more… I’m impressed as I am a bit bogged down and week 6 is looming.
And from Day 1 I was disappointed in Lilly. It made me a bit annoyed after paying for Lilly for years that it was going to be at Target – the clothes, I didn’t really care about housewares or such. But I am super annoyed at Target for creating such hype and being greedy on their end. Really?? In the end it’s just stuff and I’m sorry people are buying the Glad you spoke up!!

    1. Hi Marcie. My daughter-in-law works for Lily and you can be assured that the quality you are buying is so much better than at Target. Your clothes will last much longer. It is fun for someone to get a deal on something they would love to wear if they want to shop on a budget but the scenes at Target were sad…..as someone above said it really looks like greed.

    2. I think you will find that you are not alone in your sentiments. Mostly I did not like what it brought out in people…oh well…got to go paint a dresser now!

  5. New to your blog….really like it and can’t wait to have time to explore. Love the gold dipped look…may try it on something small to see if i can do it. Precious prom pictures..so miss those fun time. I’m not a huge LP fan so I don’t join in the fray…but I would have liked a couple of small items just because they are cute. Oh well…Target, LP, and a handful of customers were happy.

  6. Can you please tell me what gold spray paint you used? Valspar? My daughter wants to do a vintage chest like that for her new baby! I love the look …… thanks! Your daughter is precious!

    1. The gold spray paint I use is called “KRYLON shortcuts” – I found it in the craft section of our hardware store, They might have it at Michaels…It is the only one I have found that actually looks gold and does not bleed a greasy darker color throughout…The hutch bottom took two 3 oz cans..( make sure your daughter wears a mask!says the Mom and Nurse in me!)
