I have been thinking about something lately….
ABOUT the challenges to be ORIGINAL…
REALLY ORIGINAL these days…
With all of the DIY this and that,
AND BLOGS…
so many creative people ARE coming out of the craft rooms
and kitchens and FROM BEHIND THEIR
dining room tables with so many many many ideas of things to do with This and That.

THEN Pinterest then takes it up a notch, spreading the word out to millions….and everyone can do that “original” thing until it is no longer…well, original.
The creativity bar is now to the moon and back…and you have to have some
pretty hefty chops to make something that turns heads.
Ands this is why I LOVE EMILY HENDERSON.
She always surprises me.

You may remember Emily from the HGTV show Design Star.
Like, in that she WON!!!! AND NOW SHE HAS HER OWN SHOW
“Secrets of a Design Star”
ON HGTV.
I was always rooting for her.
I love her quirky
(I will bet a million dollars she gets tired of hearing that word)
adorable, anything-goes style.
I love her use of Color, and her ability to imagine something amazing.
THE STYLE A ROOM…
is not an easy feat.
What I admire the MOST about Emily is that she puts herself out there…
she is HERSELF
and it is refreshing
to meet her…she was completely unaffected…
just a super nice person!
in a NUT shell….she is just GREAT!
….meeting Emily was an total unexpected highlight of my NYC trip
and my Blogher experience….
She was a reminder of where I am headed and how high I want to FLY!
p.s. Wow, this is crazy. This post on Emily was one of the ones,
that I had written prior to my Dad’s passing,
and postponed until
today.
When I went to send Emily a link,
I saw on her site that she is
having a Tastemakers Sale on ONE KINGS LANE tonight!!
at 6pm.
… rescheduled from yesterday…
if you have a chance stop by and see exactly what I mean about her
endless style!!!

I appreciate your words about creativity. There can be a competitiveness about creativity and I find that when I feel that tension, I am losing my purpose and myself, and it no longer is fun. And when I create in that mindset, my finished product never really feels finished or is lacking something. Its interesting to write this down- its helpful for me!
