MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE IS ON THE MARKET
MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE IS ON THE MARKET

If I were to tell you where I have been, what I have been doing, how many trips to the hardware store I have made …IT would take too long and bore you to tears! I could tell you how I needed to buy Knee pads because I have been down on the floor scrubbing up all of my little tiny paint splatters…( I simply must learn to be neater!) It has been a whirlwind…I have touched every inch of this house with my hand and tried to make her look as pretty as possible. Busy times and then…

oh yeah…PROM!!!!…

and THE WILLIAM AND MARY ACCEPTED STUDENTS DAY, SOCCER GAMES and just plain old life.

Here are my

FIVE PIECES OF ADVICE FOR STAYING SANE AND SURVIVING THIS PROCESS –

  1. TAKE OUT  FOOD.- AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE…MAKING FOOD JUST MAKES MESSES YOU WILL HAVE TO CLEAN AND THERE WILL BE TIME TO COOK LATER!
  2. SLEEP – GO TO BED AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE EVEN IF YOU CANNOT FALL ASLEEP BECAUSE OF ALL THE LISTS YOU ARE GOING OVER IN YOUR MIND. GET OFF YOUR FEET AND REST YOUR BODY. THIS IS NOT A TIME TO GET RUN DOWN AND SICK!
  3. TAKE BREAKS – FOR REAL LIFE – HONESTLY THIS HAS BEEN WHAT HAS KEPT ME SANE, SPRING BREAK IN PUERTO PICO WAS PURE HEAVEN!,
SNUBA - PUERTO RICO SPRING BREAK
SNUBA – PUERTO RICO SPRING BREAK

HAVING DINNERS WITH FRIENDS, GOING TO COOPERS SOCCER GAMES. THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE SOMETHING TO DO AROUND THE HOUSE …BUT LIFE IS IMPORTANT TO DO TOO!!!!! KEEPS IT ALL IN PERSPECTIVE.

  4. TRY TO BE NICE. I SAY “TRY” BECAUSE, TRUST ME THIS IS A TOUGH ONE. I TEND TO GET ON A ROLL AND THEN HAVE A HARD TIME DELEGATING BECAUSE I JUST WNAT TO GET IT DONE MYSELF!!!!! BUT HELP IS WHAT I/YOU NEED AND HELPERS NEED TO BE TALKED TO NICELY.
  5. KEEP THROWING AWAY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. I HAVE CROSSED OVER NOW INTO THINGS I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER GET RID OF AND I AM TELLING YOU – IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE FREE OF ALL THIS STUFF!!!! BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT COULD EVER FEEL! DO IT!! CHUCK IT!

AH – MY HOUSE. Pretty soon will be someone else’s house. We have had an incredible run. Raised the kids, set all but one off to see the world and now the time has come to move on to the next step. I know I will cry buckets …  but it is all good. AND I have new adventures ahead of me!

  1. I’m curious as to what type of things you didn’t think you would ever get rid of but did and it felt good. I have a problem getting rid of things. I guess it comes from having a depression era mom who saved things and developing emotional attachment to things. Any insight would help.

  2. Beautiful home, Lesli! The process is hard, but so worth it! Where are you headed?
    Lisa

PS. The first year of college is almost over! How did you adjust? My year was was easier than I thought it would be! Also, Lola is still with us! And doing well!

  3. I love your old country house, Lesli! I’ve had a crush on it for ages. Oh, how I wish I could buy it and move to Virginia! I spent a good deal of time daydreaming about that today, ha.

Unfortunately, I can’t do that, but I can feature the listing on my blog and send some traffic its way, at least. (If you’d rather I didn’t, however, let me know!) The photos they took for it are GORGEOUS. I can’t imagine it’ll be on the market long!! 🙂

  4. Wow, everything looks gorgeous! This must be so bitter-sweet for you, but you sound ready to begin a new adventure. This old girl has been well loved by you all and it’s been fun to be able to come along on all your projects through your blog! Hope a sweet family will put an offer in soon, and can’t wait to read about your future home!

  5. What a beautiful and well-loved home! It won’t last long on the market, some lucky family will grab it up quickly. It will be a sad goodbye for you, but you sound like you’re ready to move on. I went through this three years ago, sold a home I had lovingly worked on and happily lived in for fifteen years. The only thing that cured my sadness was buying another house to work on! I look forward to following your next adventure on your blog. Good luck to you!

  6. What is the brand of your pink plates in the kitchen cabinets? They look like Fiesta, but the only pink in Fiesta I have found was more peach. Thanks!

  7. Love the house! You’re maybe the second person I’ve seen who spells their name like mine!
