the NEW SEA GRASS RUGS

I have said it before and I will say it again…
Decorating is an on-going process…
It evolves over time,
as you and your family and your life evolve and grow…
… it reflects where you ARE at any given point in time.

my children were 5 years younger,
smaller and their needs were different.
AND As much of our home…
revolves around them and their needs,
and by the way….they are growing like weeds….
 our home
changes frequently.

One of the most recent changes has been the swapping out of the
 Living Room Rugs.
I recently replaced our Wool Rugs
with Sea Grass Rugs.
I did a bit of research that said that sea grass was easier to clean than Sisal
that was all I needed to hear.
SEA GRASS IT WAS!

I could not be happier.
It feels cleaner.
It feels bigger.
I could only ever afford 8′ x 10′ rugs of the Oriental kind…
but these Sea Grass rugs are 9′ x 12′ and were very VERY affordable
at Ballard Designs...(they really should be paying me!!!)
Everyone that comes over goes home and orders them!
at $299 for the 9′ x 12′ size
(minus the 15% discount I always make sure to get)
they are a bargain!
Now, I do not think they would have been appropriate
when I had crawling babies, a bit
bumpy, but my big kids love them,
and they collect
WAY LESS DIRT and DOG Hair.
Although I have found myself pondering…
“Then where is it all going?”
But the old wool rugs shed for over 4 years!!!
Filling my Dyson tank every time!

When I get home I will show you the Sea Grass
in the Kids Living room too,
we got that one a few days before Spring Break.

Off to the Aquarium!!!
LOVE SPRING BREAK!!!

…and make sure to check my previous blog post for a secret deal for Blog followers….

Dream of?
Do you even use rugs or prefer bare floors or carpet?

  1. Hi Lesli…I love your art and your blog. I think your house is fabulous. Question in the room with the chevron couch where you featured your new rug from ballard, the french provincial chairs are they painted in ASCP? Is it Duck Egg or Louis Blue? I have a set that I want to paint and I love yours. Thanks Misty wmdlellis@gmail.com

  2. Hi Misty, the chairs were done this way: They had originally been a dark varnish, and I sanded them down to the raw wood, then put a coat or two of a Benjamin Moore color called “Dry Sage”, then I sanded the heck out of that until lots of it was gone…and added a color called Quiet Moments and sanded that so the two blended THEN I put a paste wax with stain on that! It was insane. But fun, and a few years before ASCP. I think you could get the same result just fine w ASCP, but go for a greener color vs blue…maybe duck egg over provence. Have fun!
