MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE – DECORATED FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Coming up for AIR

and Christmas!

I completed the last of my Holiday paintings yesterday – proceeded to crawl out of my “bunker” – cleaned the house and took some photos of our House at Christmas Time. Every single “decoration or thing” you see – has a story – came from somewhere (I mean, I guess they all do) but you know what I mean. They are significant and treasured. Each year when I pull them out, I am reminded how fast the time flies – it can all blur together – the days and the years – especially when you are raising kids and your life is rife with routines – one blurs into another – BUT – the HOLIDAYS are the biggest most beautiful punctuation mark – time to take stockĀ and for Gods sake – BE GRATEFUL for all of it. Because honestly – LIFE is going to be what it is going to be.

So, I know I said this last year..but I get to say it again – I am HAPPY to be able to enjoy this amazing house at Holiday time again. This house KNOWS Christmas I can feel it in the air. It welcomes all of it and comes alive with the decorations!!!

So without further ado – enjoy. Do you know how bad I wish I could invite you ALL over for a Holiday party! How awesome would THAT BE!!!

FRONT DOOR – We let a lovely neighbor take cuttings from one of our Bagillion boxwoods – and every year- she makes us a wreath!! This years is AH-MAZING!!!
Entryway and 20 years of Framed Holiday Cards going up the stairs. My friend Lisa has given me one of these frames from exposuresoline.com for 15 years. (DO NOT go to just “exposures” – That is NOT not a frame shop!

THE STOCKINGS WERE HUNG ON THE STAIRCASE – my Mom made all of Needle point ones.
COOPER AND HIS GIRLFRIEND DID THE UPSTAIRS HALL DECORATING! I LOVE THE LITTLE BOWS!
UPSTAIRS RAILING!

OVER THE YEARS – my Holiday Decorating style has evolved. Now, half of what we own may not even be brought out out of the red and green bins. I let the kids pick what they want out and I now prefer simple, sweet decorations that do not transform the house, but enhance it. The vines are SO easy – they add exactly the charm and festive mood I am looking for, but we are not constantly knocking them over and do not have to pack away all of our REAL stuff to accommodate them. I love the wreath and the tree – they bring LIFE into the house

UPSTAIRS HALLWAY

May favorite room(s) to decorate have always been the TWO adjoining Living Rooms. They kind of make anything look good – the ceilings are so tall and the colors so open and airy that it feels festive even before I put up the vines! I ut vines on al of the windows and across the large double door opening.

LIVING ROOM
The THREE WISE MEN

DINING ROOM – I GOT SOME NEW CHAIRS ON CYBER MONDAY FROM TARGET! AFTER I SAW AND SAT IN THEM (COMFY!) – I ORDERED 4 MORE! THEY MATCH THE LIVING ROOM CHAIRS/ TIME FOR A RUG

So there you have our 2017 Holiday decorations. I might still surprise Phoebe and Tate with a tree in each of their rooms when they get home…which will be soon. I promise to be back Monday and will be doing MWF posts for the remainder of the year! Honest Promise!

Thank you for being a friendxo

  1. Lesli, I love your decorations and how they suit your home so well. Did you make the fabric garlands? Could you give us a little tutorial on how you did it, and how long it would take to do one? I love them!!!!

  2. What a delightfully unique way to show holiday joy and gratitude: a home decorated by family momentos collected over the years!
No wonder you smile every time you open your “stash” each year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  3. I absolutely love the christmas frames, what a great idea! I’m always looking for new ways to decorate the house for christmas as the same old decorations every year can get a bit tired, so I’ll definitely be stealing this, good job!
