SLEEPING DOGS – THE DOGS OF MOCH

My whole life, I have been surrounded by animals.
I cannot think of a time when I did not have a pet….
and I hope there never is a time I don’t have one.
I told you a BIT about the cats a few weeks ago,
so it is only fair
I NOW give the DOGS some AIR Time!
We have Three Dogs.
DASH , MUFFIN AND CHARLIE.
“DASH”
Appropriately named by the SPCA where we got the year old puppy,
7 years ago on the way home from school…
We have clocked him running next to the car at 25mph and I am sure he can go faster

Way back when..when he could be crated…those days are long gone.

If we ever moved, we would have to leave Dash here.
He is the Neighborhood dog,
aka”The Mayor”.
A few years ago, while delivering invitations for a Neighborhood Open house, we discovered that he has a bowl at each house on the street…
and a NAME…”Buddy”, “Sport”, “Speedy”

Everyone loves Dash and he belongs to NO One.
BUT We all BELONG TO DASH.

When we had Dash for about a year…his wandering, and the car chasing and the jumping and nipping
and general naughtiness…
made us consider finding him an alternative home.
We consoled the kids by letting them pick a replacement dog
and they chose a DOG like their cousins have…
A Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier.
Along came
“MUFFIN”!!
She may not be the sharpest pencil in the box,
and she still…at age 5 is not housebroken ….
she burps when she eats and does not always play well with others…
and does not share food…
….but she is our Girl…
….and lo and behold,
when we got Muffin…
 Dash began to settle down.

And then there were
TWO...
Fast forward to two years ago.
Phoebe came home from soccer practice one day and said
“Mom ! Mom! Hannah’s Mom brought the cutest puppies to practice today!”
I reminded her that ALL puppies are cute and that we did not need ANY MORE PETS!
That weekend, I went to her soccer game and as I walked toward the sidelines
I almost tripped over a pile of puppies…
ADORABLE Puppies.
“What would it hurt to put this little yellow guy in my jacket?” I thought…
“I mean…look at him shivering!”
I turned to my husband and said…
“For our Anniversary?”
he replied…’That’s not fair!”
You would have done the same thing…
on the way home from the soccer game…
“Charlie”
the Dog is half Yellow Lab and Half Border Collie.

This is his brother…Elvis, owned by one of my daughter’s best friends.
We know where 6 of his 7 siblings are…
I carried him like the baby he is, until he got too big.

We all did…
We kind of still do…

Charlie is that one dog, who makes everything make sense to me.
and he brings out the good in ALL of us….
He saved my Life…
story HERE

My best friend says he is the Dog equivilant to Derek Jeter…Handsome and a smooth operator…

I say He is a BIG LUMP of LOVE….

THE DOGS

  1. Awww… they are all so cute! I have an 11 year old border collie/cocker spaniel mix. She looks like a small golden retriever, but loves to herd people, squirrels, etc. She is super sweet and still acts like a puppy.

  2. they are all so sweet! sounds like charlie is pretty darn special- i remember when he saved your life.
we have our charlie who is a curmudgeon of an old man at age 12…. but he was our first baby and underneath it all is still a mama’s boy and when there is a storm he has to be under my feet. he has big beautiful eyes and still has the sweet little pup in him. i thought he had died the other morning because he can’t hear well anymore and when i called him to go outside he didn’t budge…. i realized he couldn’t hear me and finally when he did he got up, but that was a scary moment. usually he can’t wait to get outside in the morning!
jake is almost 9 and he is the sweetest dog that could be…. he is my walking buddy and my companion. chris said when i was away last week with the kids he just moped around the house and didn’t sleep in our room like he usually does. 🙂 it’s good to know i am loved.

  4. I have had dogs all my life. I had a bit of a scary incident a few years ago and we were dogless for about 8 months. I was scared to get another dog, especially a big one and then my husband wisely “surprised” us with a cute little furball and that dog restored my faith in the power of pooches!!! I love that dog so much. He is my constant companion – hooray for big, furry Goldens. We then adopted an abused female rescue Golden and they are both such loves. Your doggies are so cute – I would have brought Charlie home, too. he’s irresistable!! marcie

  5. I LOVED hearing about your little tribe! We only have one right now…and I always said I would never just have one! Reading about how adding another tempered Dash is making me think about adding another. We are owned by BO (Bozo when he is a clown) Black Great Dane…opens doors with his paws…gets ice from the fridge.

  6. Very, very sweet. That Charlie is a total stud muffin. Two of my little furry friends just passed – one a crazy brilliant tuxedo DSH after 12 years together, and the other my adorable lhaso/cocker soul-mate after 18 amazing years. My heart has been shattered. Still with me is my 10 year old gentle-giant “cat-dog” friend (goofy labrador trapped in a Tabby body). Ironically, his name is Cooper 🙂 They were all rescues, yet the saying is true, they were the ones to rescue me. While it is so easy to get attached, it is beyond crushing when you have to let them go. Anyway, I don’t have a blog; I just noticed yours and liked your post.
