TOP TEN TUESDAY – TEN FAVORITE ENTRYWAY MAKEOVERS.

Over Spring Break – I was brainstorming with my team – you know, my 17-year-old son, his girlfriend and my husband – who kept nodding off in his vacation induced relaxed state.

I was trying to think of ways to bring NEW life and energy and in the end – yes, INTEREST – into my blog.

Because lets face it…for a while there, I wasn’t even interested my blog. Maybe that is the wrong word – It was not that I did not care – I cared deeply – I LOVE THIS BLOG – it’s just, I cared about other things more – other things, my people needed me more, the house was on the market, kids were graduating high school and heading off to college and I knew this blog would sit tight, be patient, read a book or take a vacation while I was off – tending to the things I was tending to.

And sure enough, I was right, the blog survived, even in some ways thrived – with some space – Maybe I was trying too hard. Maybe I needed to give myself and the blog a “break”. Maybe – me and the blog could TRUST in the relationship and thrive on our own. You know, like a really good friend that you only see once a year and feel like you pick up where you left off. Nothing is lost. Just some time.

ANYWAY – I asked my son – “What makes you want to read something?”

And he said – “Well, when I  look something up – I like LISTS, You know, like “top ten” best running shoes and top ten places to get your Tuxedo for Prom” .

A lightbulb went off. I realized I do the same thing.  I think is our HUMAN reaction to the bombardment of information. It has been how we have helped ourselves digest ALL of it – I mean “I can’t eat the whole buffet, but PLEASE give me the top ten best FOODS ! “

I said  “YES – Thursday Top Ten” has a nice ring to it!!”

My son said, “I like TOP-TEN TUESDAY better.”

So here we are  –

TOP TEN TUESDAY

Oh Wait! I got so excited talking about the actual TOP TEN list that I forgot to tell you the SUBJECT of which we are explore ten of the TOP answers!

Remember the other day when we were talking about my NEW friend “Feng Shui?” It really clicked with me. And even just a small dose of understanding can go a long way – It just made so much made sense to me – AND one of the “tenants” is that you should make a change – even just a small one – when you return from a relaxing vacation – to REFLECT in your home – your renewed sense of calm.

Even before I got home I knew what space I would change – duh – the MOST IMPORTANT room in the house. But, taking things out is the easy part. My next challenge is to MAKE IT OVER in a relaxing and inviting way. I went looking for some inspiration. I am looking to simplify our space while still making good use of its size (our entryway is 30 x 10ft) it is like a room in itself.

Here are my TOP TEN favorite ENTRYWAYS !

  1. Haha, just before I saw this, I was reading “top ten objects your grown kids don’t want from you”. Your son was right on those list articles and it also tied together the purge and streamline thinking you have going on!
