STATEMENT NECKLACES AND STATEMENT CHAIRS

IN A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME..

The phrase “Statement Necklace”…

HAS BECOME  part of the Fashion vernacular…I  don my favorite statement necklaces with pride. I have not always been the best at remembering to accessorize my own self …but I swear…once I started thinking about accessorizing myself…like I do a room…it became a piece of cake…a fun and  pretty piece of cake…and Stella and Dot didn’t hurt either…!

OSLO NECKLACE STELLA AND DOT
OSLO NECKLACE STELLA AND DOT…THIS IS on my list TO SANTA!!!

So when one my of FAVORITE Websites , ONE KINGS LANE contacted me and asked me to Showcase a Statement Chair using  their Design Resource Center as a guide…I thought SURE..and SERIOUSLY….why stop at ONE???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my 5 rules of thumb when it come to Statement chairs….
THEY…
1. Must make me Happy
2.  MUST be able to be moved through-out my house
3. MUST coordinate by NOT be too matchy matchy…I usually reserve my Statement chairs for my more expensive fabrics because I will not need too much and it will serve such a great purpose.
4.  MUST be comfortable TO SIT IN.
5. MUST HAVE fabric THAT IS durable or washable…pretty much the rule of thumb around here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Every room in my old Country House has a STATEMENT CHAIR…I LOVE THEM…THAT POP!!!!…THAT SPECIAL CHAIR THAT PULLS IT ALL TOGETHER…makes you look twice…surprises you and most importantly takes what could be a cookie cutter room and gives it my unique SPIN!!

lets take a look shall we….

LIVING ROOM #1

WING BACKS INSPIRED BY
WING BACKS INSPIRED BY Queen Anne Style Wing Chair….I got this chair pair for a song  when we first moved into  our house and they were covered tin a dated fruit print . I had slipcovers made (these have been washed 10 times) out of  a soothing soft watery blue with ivory velvet trim…I have never tired of this color and I can get another year of wear out of these…

BACKING UP TO THE WINGBACKS ARE THE LOUIS  XV INSPIRED STATEMENT CHAIRS….These chairs, with their Greige velvet upholstery serve to dial back the energy and lend to a quiet relaxed vibe in the

My desk chair is another French Inspired Chair. I painted this former Assisted Living chair high gloss black and upholstered in a quasi-neutral hip print that adds a bit of whimsy and distraction to the messy desk area….

PHOEBE’S ROOM

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Phoebe’s chair. I spent a year looking for a chair for her room when I did her 13th birthday makeover. I wanted something that was young and fun and also comfy enough for her to curl up and study in…I uphostered it in the Dwell Studio fabric which matches her Cornices and is in a few places around the house…

  1. I just love your house! And all your chairs…I have visions of doing what you do – finding a flea market diamond-in-the-rough and making it my own. Maybe one day I’ll get on that! Thank you for the inspiration and eye candy! 🙂
