TRENDS? OR THINGS WE LOVE…OR BOTH?

In my last post “IS CHEVRON DEAD“..

I spoke about TRENDS, specifically decorating Trends…what makes one..and which ones (according to House Beautiful’s FACEBOOK page) may be on their way out. Your responses were fantastic -the general consensus being that Chevron is NOT dead or at the very least will not go down quite that easy…and most of you said you just do what you like…sometimes surfing a trend and others time…absolutely not.

HERE IS MY PERSONAL LIST OF TRENDS – THINGS THAT I HAVE NOTICED HERE AND THERE AND IN SOME CASES….EVERYWHERE…AND LOVE…

Many of these things are not so much trends…as they are things that have always been around and are becoming more POPULAR…oh wait…THAT IS a TREND!!!

1. BARN DOORS –

LOVE THEM AND CANNOT WAIT TO PUT MINE UP IN THE BATHROOM!

BARN DOORS are genius and HUGE space savers…I predict that not only will they last they will evolve, the hardware is going to get better and more of an “accessory piece” and they will be standard in many new homes. They save TONS of space!!!

2. TRIBAL –

I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THE LAYERS, THE MONOCROMATIC GEOMETRY…THE EARTHY BEAUTY

9. EGG CHAIRS

– these fun funky chairs are showing up everywhere…and I cannot look at them and not smile…they just make me happy…call them HAPPY chairs!

10. PAINTED FURNITURE

– NOW obviously, people have painted furniture as long as there has been paint and grandmothers have handed down their French Provencial Dressers…but it is the HOW people are painting that I love. Yes, we have the Annie Sloan painters and the chippy shabby pieces that have extended the life of cast offs, but I am especially smitten by the creative painting of furniture I have seen…Union Jacks and dipped stools, brightly colored dining chairs and high gloss black anything!!! Keep it coming…after all, something old can become new again…and again…and again…with color…

….now that was fun…and easy, because I know what I like…
