DARK GREEN IS POPPING UP EVERYWHERE.
IT IS HUMBLING …TO HAVE WITNESSED A COLOR – BE “IN” AND THEN “OUT” AND THEN “IN” AGAIN.
FOREST GREEN WAS A BIG BIG COLOR IN THE 1980’S. IT WAS EVERYWHERE…WHO REMEMBERS DARK GREEN COUNTERTOPS WHICH WERE THE CORNERSTONE OF A BEAUTIFUL KITCHEN???…AND THEN…LIKE AVOCADO AND OTHER NOBLE GREENS BEFORE IT…DARK GREEN TOOK IT’S PLACE IN THE ARCHIVES WITH THE OTHER COLORS WE SWORE WE WOULD “NEVER DO AGAIN!”

UNTIL NOW…HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? I LOVE THIS COLOR, BUT IT IS SO FAR IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM MY CURRENT COLOR SCHEME THAT IT WOULD NOT REALLY WORK…. EVEN IN SMALL DOES...BUT AS FAR AS CLOTHING GOES…WELL NOW THAT IS A DRESS OF A VERY DIFFERENT COLOR!!!!

DO YOU HAVE DARK GREEN IN YOUR HOME? WALLS? ACCENTS? COUNTERTOPS?
THANK YOU INDUSTVILLE LTD FOR NAMING MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE ONE OF THE TOP 35 VINTAGE DESIGN BLOGS!
I agree with you. I can do this color in clothes but not my house. And yes I do remember the hunter green countertops. My friend had them in her other house.
Oops I just remembered something, I do have Country French Slipcovers and the background is a dark green, almost black. Time to pull them out and I will be in style.
back in the 1980’s my brother made a killing flipping houses and his “trademark” HIP addition was always the hunter green countertops!
When I was younger (as a child and teenager) I had this thing against green. Didn’t like to wear green clothes or acessories on green. Nowadays I became wiser and green is great color, dark green, army green, light green (whatever green), but specially on clothing and decor acessories, I wouldn’t dare dark green on kitchen cabinets. Mine are acqua… is a kind of green, right?
Whoo hoo my favorite cardigan is going to be on trend this winter! I however am just not that in to dark green in decor. It either feels too woodsy cabin, heavy or dated for me.
We bought a hunter green leather sectional in the early 90’s and used it until the leather practically shredded. I also had a valance of the same color. I don’t think I’m ready to re explore that color yet, if ever.
Green seems like more of an outdoors area color, and not so much something you’d use indoors. But I love green and wouldn’t mind having a “green room” 🙂
I love beautiful red rooms, or red anything, navy blue rooms and absolutely a gorgeous dark green room. I’m happy and hopeful that the very bland grey rooms everywhere will go far away soon. We had a medium shade of grey when I was very little in the early 50`s with chartreuse fabric chair and sofa. If there is one thing I disliked as a child,it was that drab and dreary room. I felt like so many rooms today that I lived in a basement.
We’re remodeling our kitchen and I’m deeply considering newberg green for the perimeter cabinets. My fear is it feeling dated quickly. But it really is a look i love! Play it safe or be brave with a bold color?? The struggle is real!
