Previously on MY OLD COUNTRY HOUSE –
We talked kitchen cabinet hardware and the ins and out of wide wild world of WHITE!
Today I talk about the installation of my kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts. How hard could it be? Right? I will tell you!
But, first let me start by saying that I look at every project as an opportunity to learn something new. And even if I am not rushing out to install any more cabinet doors…if I had to…I could!
Here were my big mistakes:
1. I did not have an assistant over the age of 13, and the ones I did have were easily distracted and prone to leaving the room and not coming back.
2. I did not take the time to familiarize myself with the European hinges and the various ways they could be adjusted. Now of course, I am an expert on them, but those lessons were learned the hard way, and I honestly could have gone my whole life and not missed knowing what I learned.
3., 4. and 5…I really needed an assistant.
That being said, and lets just get out of the way the fact that on average , the first 4 or five doors took 1 hour each to install, in the end, I am still VERY happy that I went this route. When I walk into the kitchen now, I love how it looks, and I have not even replaced the countertops and floors or avocado green oven yet!!!All in good time!
I am saving the full reveal for when the job is completely done, and the remaining doors are hung. However, for you patience, here are some BEFORE and AFTERS!
It looks fantastic! Job Well Done!
