In a “LIVING” house…
where a family grows and changes….the rooms change purpose and decor as well… and NO room in our house demonstrates that process more than our Dining room.
the playroom 2004
Initially our dining room was actually the kids playroom.
The original use of the dining room was as a playroom with a booth
Off the kitchen, it gave me the opportunity to be in the kitchen and to supervise the kids. We had a booth in the room where most meals took place…and it worked…until it didn’t. They grew, and started to play in their bedrooms more and the room eventually…
…became
The Dining room…

last week I painted the room its 6th color….FARROW AND BALL PINK GROUND

The bottom cabinets hold all of their sports shoes etc….an invaluable piece of furniture. Should I paint it?My Dining room does triple duty – we eat all of our meals here, the kids do their homework and it is where I paint…my studio. NOT perfect by any means…but for now…it works and enables me to paint when time allows…sometimes that might mean midnight…The Dining room . I plan to paint the dining chair – either black or maybe even yellow or a very dark gray/blue….am I crazy?Interestingly, most people whom have seen the newly painted dining room initially do not notice that it is a NEW color. Expecting a PINK room, they have been happily surprised to instead find a warm, soothing background color which complements almost every other color without dominating the room or appearing too GIRLY though you know I have NO problem with GIRLY!“NOSE TO NOSE” A PAINTING ON UGALLERY. I WAS TAKING ON OF THE “IN A ROOM” PHOTOS LAST NIGHT WITH MY NEW LIGHTING EQUIPMENT!
I AM LOVING THE PINK GROUND….THE WARMTH OF THE ROOM IS IMMEDIATELY SOOTHING …I CANNOT WAIT FOR AN ACTUAL SUNNY DAY TO SEE THE SUNLIGHT PLAY OFF THE WALLS…. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT CLOUDS SINCE I PAINTED THE WALLS!
FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE UPPER EAST COAST – STAY WARM AND SAFE DURING THE SNOWSTORM.

What a lovely, inviting color. It’s a subtle shade that is soft and delicate, without being too “pink.” Great choice!
