THE COLOR PINK

IS ENJOYING A BIT OF A POPULARITY EXPLOSION RIGHT NOW.

MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO ME…I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED PINK AND I WILL ALWAYS HAVE IT IN MY HOME, EVEN IF IT IS “OUT”!!

I have wanted a pink sofa for as long as I have had my own home.

And I can safely say after ALL these years…AND PINK TRENDING UP AND DOWN AND GOING  IN AND OUT – AND  of compromises and my various homages to PINK…that I WILL WANT AND LOVE a pink sofa forever. So I think I am going to take the plunge —–!!! QUESTION IS – WHICH WAY TO GO??I have narrowed downy he color to the DEEP PINK – PEONY FAMILY…AND I CONTINUE TO BE OBSESSED…TO THE POINT OF RIDICULOUSNESS WITH

THIS SOFA FROM BALLARD DESIGNS

  1. All of those couches are beautiful!!! I’d take anyone! I especially love the English rolled arm sofas!! That one from Anthropologie makes me want to eat ramen for a year! To afford it!
Urban outfitters has a pink beauty too… Pink sofa… Can’t wait to see what u get!

  2. I really like the new sofa from Ballards. I guess it might depend on which choice is more economical for you, although slipcovers are either really expensive or a TON of work. My mom always made slipcovers for our furniture and I remember how hard and long she worked on them. Also, do you open the sleeper sofa often? Wouldn’t you have to remove the slipcover to open it up?

  3. I would agree…go with the Ballards sofa. The color is gorgeous, and the tight back looks very comfortable. I too, have pinned your dead end picture(2 yrs ago) Somewhere I have the magazine that has several pages of this fabulous home, As soon as I come across it, I will pass on the information. Love your blog!

  4. This pink sofa thing is a bit like romance: do you want to go steady or do you want to get married? I love pink (and all solid, bright colors for that matter), but I know the day is going to come – it’s just going to whether I like it or not – when I want a break from it and just want calm. Even if only for a little while. With a slipcover, I can break up; with a new sofa, I’m really committed to this and a divorce is too expensive. I think you can handle that Ballard sofa – it’s pretty cool; and there are a ton of ways to decorate with it for now and years to come. Cannot wait to see what you do!

    1. thing is , if we are going with the romance references..the pink sofa is like …..the one that got away…and then you meet them at a party years later when there is nothing keeping you from diving in!

  5. There is no wrong answer to this question, Lesli. You obviously love both options, so whichever you go with, it will work for you.
If it were me, I would opt for the slipcovers, because you can take them off when you want to change up the look (pink may feel too spring-like in the dead of winter, as an example), and ultimately when you decide to move on to a different favorite color. I love to have an “escape plan” or at least a different option whenever possible.

But that’s me, and this is YOUR house… go for what YOU want!

  6. Whichever way you go would be fab, I have no doubt. The Ballard pink is pretty amazing and it could be slipcovered later if need be. I would have to go with slipcovers because my two goldens think they are people 🙂 and get on the couch. We are THOSE people. But I think that your accent wall could be a really dark daring pink if you go softer with the couch. So fun.
We painted the end tables and several other pieces of furniture deep. rich pink (SW Eros) and glossy for MOllie’s college apartment and they were awesome. She treats pink like it’s a neutral! She uses it like you do!! Can’t wait to see the pink couch!

  7. Lesli, If not now, when? I asked myself the question and that is how I came to have a pink sofa. I found an oldie on CL and had it reupholstered. I have never regretted it and will send you a pic if you like.

  8. The Ballard one gets my vote- you’ve always been a pink-gal, and it’s beautiful! Pillows and throws will help you when you want to change it up. I’ll cross my fingers you can make it happen!!
