LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER
The Living Room paint job is finished!
PAINT COLOR: SHERWIN WILLIAMS “SEA SALT” IN BENJAMIN MOORE REGAL PEARL
TRIM – BENJAMIN MOORE CHANTILLY LACE
Just wanted a change…and BOY the change is amazing…the room feels bigger, taller, and yet…cozier..if that makes any sense at all…
I repainted the interior of the pink cabinet…from BM Springtime Bloom…
….to a slightly warmer and softer BM Paradise Pink!
…and LOVE the results!
…the deciding factor with Sea Salt WAS how it changes color with the light and with the surrounding colors…FROM GRAY to BLUR/GRAY…to BLUE/GRAY/GREEN……AND BACK TO GRAY ….I love it.
…I made one MINOR mistake while painting the room. I taped off ALL of the trim, including the picture Moulding and the 3 windows and the pocket doors and the entrance door…literally the taping alone took 1.5 hours…I painted ALL the trim. halfway through I ran out of paint and switched to a new can. It was only when I Had finished and was closing the can did I realize that I had switched from “Chantilly Lace” to “Mountain Peak White”… I started to rectify my mistake…except I could not tell where the paint was different…so …I let it go! But the doors and surrounding trim are all CHANTILLY LACE.
I DESIGNED THIS FABRIC ON SPOONFLOWER (IT IS FOR SALE BY THE YARD ) AND MADE OUR LIVING ROOM TAB BACK DRAPES. (TUTORIAL HERE) . I LOVE HOW BRINGT AND HAPPY AND SOPHISTICATED THEY ARE! FROM A DISTANCE THEY LOOK LIKE IKAT BUT WHEN YOU GET CLOSER, YOU CAN SEE THE HORSES FACES. I USED A PAINTING OF MINE TO CREATE THE PATTERN.
I am in LOVE with the SEA SALT!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Love the sea salt so much better. It is on my list to purchase. Your LR looks beautiful.
Thanks Debbie! You will love it!
Love it…and love the pink!
thanks Deb!
I loved it before but love it even more now. It really looks great! The color is made for this room.
I feel exactly the same! thanks!
Beautiful!
thank you!
I like how the room is restful but still has great color pops. So beautiful,
Deb
me too Deb, me too! Thanks!
My sunroom is painted in Sea Salt and I love it, too. I totally agree with you on how it changes as the light varies – blue/green/gray. What I love is that it’s ‘pastel’ but not a ‘sweet’ color at all.
EXACTLY! Pastel but def not sweet…this I think was my goal!
that pink!! oh, how I love that pink!!! the sea salt gives it a calming effect that allows it to live in your room without being over powering……job well done! 🙂
Thank you Martha..I love it too! xo
I spy…..I saw one of your paintings this morning on Young House Love blog for their model home they are doing, very cute.
Love the new color on your walls it looks great 🙂
Oh my god…it’s SOOOO peaceful. It has this icy, fragile feeling. I literally can feel a sense of calm in my chest looking at it. And it’s such a change because before the room felt like a showcase for the amazing pinks. It was like a giant hug from some big pink friend!
I have a tiny little house and I’m looking for one beachy hue to use in the lr, dr and kitchen. I think I”m going to go with this! It looks gorgeous with the white!
Saw you over and Sherry and John’s! Your painting looks amazing!
xo

Totally loving it – although I also loved it before!! The room is still so lovely and cozy, and the pink is just as delicious with Sea Salt as it was before the redo. It’s so wonderful when you make a change and end up loving it just as much as you did before.
I am in love! So pretty, I think I want to use this color in my boy’s bathroom.
It looks beautiful! I love it!
Lesli,
This post came just in time as I am repainting our kitchen/family room in a few weeks. I had been thinking about one of the BM grays, but I like Sea Salt so much better. I lived here in Cville and was wondering where you got the Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt with the BM Pearl finish— Blue Ridge Supply in Crozet? Thanks so much…I am very excited to get started! I love your house and your blog. 🙂
Hi Sophie!
Thanks for stoping by!
Yes, I got the paint at Blue Ridge and if you go there and ask for Steve or Kelly and tell them you want the SEA SALT in Pearl that they color matched for me….they have it in their computer system and can make it right up..I used both Sherwin Williams and BM and the final coat is BM and I ADORE it. Pearl is my all time fave finish! This color would be amazing in a kitchen.
Have fun!
I am so jealous of your pocket doors! And the color is amazing!!!
I love the sea salt – it looks fantastic Lu. Really relaxing and makes all the furniture pop. I was contemplating painting the sunroom ceiling and leaving the walls white but the sea salt in your LR looks so great with the white trim I may have to paint the walls sea salt. Love it!
Thanks Malena..it was your beautiful room that inspired me and I am soooo happy I went with the sea salt…I love every single thing about it!!! I think it would be perfect in your sunroom!!! xoxo
A beautifully serene room with looks of character and warmth. I love the pink interior of the shelves, its a fabulous feature and a great way to add some vibrant colour in a controlled way.
LOVE SEA SALT!!! We just painted our bedroom at 50% and now I want to repaint the dining room too! So lovely with that pink!
The room looks great! The accessories compliment the neutrality of the backdrop really well.
Thank you!
Hi! Where are the pink curtains from? Thanks!
I designed this fabric myself on Spoonflower.
It is available for purchase here: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1301721-pink-horse-play-by-leslidevito.
I used the “linen cotton canvas” and made tab-back drapes for our living room!
