I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED THIS FINAL REVEAL!!!!
ALL IN ALL THIS WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE…I CHERISHED THE TIME I SPENT WITH MY SON ON HIS FIRST “OWN” ROOM…OTHER THAN THE ONE ROOM HE OCCUPIED A CRIB IN THE NURSERY. IT WAS SOMETHING I WISH I COULD GO BACK AND DO OVER AND OVER AGAIN….DESPITE OUR DIFFERENT TASTES AND STYLES…
OUR CHILDREN GROW UP TOO FAST…AND THIS IS THE ROOM WHERE COOPER PLAYED FOR HOURS WITH LEGOS AND THE ROOM THAT COOPER WILL LEAVE FROM FOR COLLEGE … HE MADE IT HIS OWN…AND THE LEVEL OF COMPROMISE WAS GOOD FOR ME …
IT WAS A LESSON IN RESTRAINT…BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT KIDS ROOM…TEEN ROOMS ESPECIALLY…NEED TO BE STREAMLINED…KIND OF A BLANK SLATE AT THE ONSET…WITH LOTS OF ROOM FOR THEM TO EXPRESS WHO THEY ARE…WHO THEY ARE BECOMING…THE TRUE REVEAL OF THIS ROOM WILL TAKE PLACE OVER THE NEXT 4 YEARS…AS COOP EXPERIENCES LIFE!
THANKS FOR FOLLOWING ALONG….
I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GRAB A CUP OF TEA OR COFFEE…IF NOT NOW, WHEN YOU HAVE SOME DOWN TIME AND CHECK OUT THE OTHER GUEST PARTICIPANTS AND WELL AS THE 20 DESIGNERS AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL REVEALS –
THESE SPACES ARE LIKE A MASTER CLASS IN DECORATING…WHO KNEW PURPLE WAS SUCH A HOT COLOR!!!! OR THAT IT COULD BE MIXED WITH ORANGE!!!! I LOVE EYE CANDY AND THE VARIED POINTS OF VIEW OF EACH DESIGNER….
AND A BIG GIANT THANK YOU TO LINDA AT CALLING IT HOME FOR OPENING
#THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE UP TO GUEST PARTICIPANTS!!
Looks great!!!!
THANK YOU ERIN!!
Lesli – This looks fantastic. Love what compromise created. What a good Mom. What a good Son! Scoop – enjoy your HS time (in and out of this room). The world IS your oyster!
Thank you Gay!!! I remember Jason’s room like it was yesterday! You are the best!
It turned out great and it’s wonderful to see Cooper’s personality develop in all things!
THANK YOU BETTY! He has great taste!
It looks great. You and Cooper did a wonderful job.
Thank you Cecilia!
Great job! I love how modern and bright it is. That lamp with the matchbox cars is really cool, and I love the desk area with the map. Great advice about keeping a blank slate for your son to express who he’s becoming, advice I probably should have followed for the room I just finished for my littler boys (also for the challenge)…but didn’t. Oh well, we had fun.
Rachel
I just realized that the car lamp was from the old room…whoops! Still love it, though. Have you considered selling it? 😉
Cooper would never part with the cars…those are his treasures!
What a perfect room for a high school boy! I love the colors – beautiful lamps by the way! It looks like the perfect place to hang out with friends, do homework, dream and sleep too ; )
Thanks Kelly! He loves it! and I love those lamps too!!!
Looks wonderful! Where is the wall map from? I would love to get one for my husband.
I got the wall map at the Greenwood Country Store – a consignment/antique type store…right down the street.
It’s so hard to do boys’ rooms, but you’ve done a lovely job! Mine is 5 and I’m already scouting ideas for the next go-round. I love that you left plenty of space for him to make it his own. Congratulations!
Thank you McKenna!!!xo
Wow! That is the nicest kids room I’ve ever seen.
Thank you Corinna!
I love the colors in this room. I think what you said in the end is so true. Creating a streamlined space allow them to make the room their own, and it will become more his room as he continues to experience life. Great job!
Thank you! He loves his room so much! The only downside..is that he LIVES in his room now…but thats okay!
Yay Cooper….he has a great “big boy” room now! Good job on this makeover!
THANK YOU SHERRY!!!
