Back in the saddle again!!!
Last weekend – I did a spontaneous makeover –
and by that I mean that I mean the decision was made at 10 AM and the work started at noon – to make over our somewhat grungy back porch into a mud room.
AND by MUDROOM – I mean a room that WILL see mud! and some coats.
Every inch of the room required painting, after tedious but necessary caulking and extensive bug and spider web removal, and might I add – one entire wall is floor to ceiling windows.
Also the ceiling had to be repainted.
I originally was going to use
and I bought a gallon. Then, I wondered if that was enough and my BM store is only open until 1pm on Saturday. SO – (and this part sometimes works great – but this time did not) I mixed the gallon with a mis-tint of BM Dove Gray which I am guessing was returned because it came out too gray. But you know me -a gallon of paint for $3!!!! I bought both of them!!! and I had them on hand so I figured it would be fine but it was NOT fine – it was a very strange color – kind of gray and hurt my eyes bright -ish – so I did it twice. Yes, if you did not know already I am crazy.
But I got to say it felt great to be doing something like this again! To be covered in paint, globs of it in my hair even from painting the ceiling, and sweaty and so so so happy! Truly, I did not mind doing it twice and it looks amazing it has added a huge amount of necessary , Usable, and beautiful space to our old country house!!
AND while we are talking about the house –
and me being crazy and all…the house is BACK on the market until Thanksgiving. We did some heavy thinking and realized that perhaps 4 days was not enough time to give our significant price drop and that the right family may still be looking and that it would be so nice to meet them!
so – I am excited to be back here – catching up and I promise to keep you in the loop!

Love the redo (and your fearlessness when faced with paint options!) and yep, just the right family might still be looking. And wouldn’t it be a lovely time of year to discover your piece of heaven in C’ville!? Good luck.
Thank you Betty!!! You are always there with kind words!
I’m soooooooo happy you are back! I think about the sale of your house often and wonder how it’s going. Having just gone through a house sale I feel for you. I wish you the best. Do keep us posted.
Thank you Betsy. So nice to hear from you! This ride is a roller coaster but I will definitely stay in touch via blog posts!
I love watching makeover things. The room looks so great.
