DESIGNED BY THOMAS JEFFERSON HIMSELF, ANYONE THAT HAS ATTENDED UVA OR EVEN VISITED HAS SEEN THIS ROUND BUILDING INSPIRED BY THE PANTHEON IN ROME. THE BUILDING WAS INTENDED TO REPRESENT “AUTHORITY OF NATURE AND POWER OF REASON” . THE BUILDING WHICH TOOK 4 YEARS TO BUILD IS ONE OF 3 BUILDINGS IN THE USA WHICH ARE INTERNATIONALLY PROTECTED AS WORLD HERITAGE SITES – JOINED BY THE STATUE OF LIBERY AND INDEPENDENCE HALL.
