To put it quite simply, painting takes me to my “Happy-Place”
…and painting animals…takes me to my “Happy Place with sugar on top”.
It feeds my soul.
A large part of my creative self is devoted to painting portraits of animals. It is not something I set out to do, but instead an avenue which found me and set my world straight and it is for that serendipity that I am eternally grateful.
….but it is the painting of Old Dogs which has a most special place in my already grateful heart. And each time I am asked to capture that which is without words, fleeting and perhaps already gone…I feel a similar honor to that I experienced each time I helped a new baby into the world. It is a gift to share the beginnings AND the endings of things.
Here are 6 VERY SPECIAL OLD DOGS …

I love, love, LOVE dogs! We recently lost our precious wire fox terrier, Virgil {full title, Lord Virgil of Open Gates Farm}. He was the apple of our eye and the light of our life! Thank you for sharing these portraits!

Thank you so much for featuring our sweet boy, Moses. We now have two “new” dogs, but he will always hold a special place in our hearts. You do great work.
Such sweet and soulful puppy faces, each and every one. I’m so very fortunate to have the “Mr Beavers” portrait hanging in our family room where we gather nightly. Although Beaver is no longer with us in person, his spirit fills our home and hearts, and the lovely image you painted smiles on us daily. I knew when you painted this portrait that it would be a wonderful keepsake and it will remain with me always … I actually find the portrait more uplifting than looking at his photos because it speaks to his essence and that’s whats with me now. Thank you Lesli. Robin
