seeing how kids are growing,
babies becoming toddlers, then teenagers, seemingly overnight…
babies becoming toddlers, then teenagers, seemingly overnight…
taller, bigger, crooked teeth and no teeth
and braces on and
braces off.
I save all of the Photo Christmas cards, and put them
in a Big Ziploc bags, labeled by year,
and pack them away,
and…every once in a while I flip through them and marvel at how
fast the time is passing.
I LOVE them!
About 5 years ago, I made and sold
fabric covered message boards…
can you spot the kitty? |
…and I did a line in Holiday colors and fabrics,
sold them, gave them as gifts and managed to saved a few for myself…
and when I put up my Holiday
Decorations, I hang them ALL around the house, .
They start off pretty empty and sit quietly waiting for a week or so,
and then….they start to fill up!
...until they are covered in layers of Christmas Cards!
Layers of friends and family..
and they fill up…
more and more…
often they are from friends, we have not seen in years and with
whom we ONLY exchange Christmas cards…
…but it is all good…
the connection is good…
and the Cards are sent from all over the world and all
the many times of our lives…
parents of our friends…
friends of our parents…
parents of our children’s friends…
old roommates…
classmates,,,
boyfriends and girlfriends…
Become one of my favorite celebrations of the season…the bringing together of hearts and minds and
loved ones from our lives..to celebrate the Holiday…however…they celebrate it!
…the cards mean Christmas to me. And so do the hand needlepointed Stockings that my Mom made for each of the Kids, and me…I have my husbands..unfinished one…so for now he uses Tate’s first stocking, the Tigger one! and His Mom recently sent me his baby stocking!
….Tonight the magic happens…the cookies are ready… |
….Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to each and everyone. Enjoy the blessings of the season…and enjoy each other….
Lesli,
I loved your blog and your fabric board holiday idea! Thanks for sharing. I also always enjoy receiving your Christmas cards — for all of the reasons you mentioned and because I enjoy your photography so much. The photos you have taken of Will and his buddies on the playground are still my favorites.
Have a wonderful, wonderful holiday!
Terri (Allard)
PS Looks like our card this year is going to be a New Year’s Greeting…
