TODAY, April 12, is the Anniversary of when we moved into this house – 13 years ago…
with a 3, 5 and 7 year old!!! A lifetime ago…sigh….
Things are Rolling here. Busy busy am I!!!! When I write it all down it seems so easy and carefree…but hours and hours have gone into each decision….multiple trips to and fro ……weighing factors like safety and comfort and always keeping in mind that there will be little ones living in this room. I love it all!!!
The major pieces have been ordered and NOW HONIG IN all the fun details…
There were many things I DID NOT KNOW going into this makeover –
Lets START WITH WHAT I DO KNOW
WALL COLOR
The wall color we have selected is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. A”GREIGE” color that enhances and flatters almost every style…This color will be the perfect backdrop to all of the colors that will fill this room. It has a maturity without being somber and because the room gets ample natural light will not go too dark. The walls were just painted and it looks beautiful. The trim is Benjamin Moore “Cloud White”.
I have ordered 2 SLIPCOVERED SOFAS.
I will not drag you though the hours and hours and hours of the selection process..suffice to say that I feel certain that I have gotten the PERFECT sofas for this family. They will hide stains and the slipcovers can be removed in pieces: the arms, the skirt, the back…each comes off separately thus the entire cover does not have to be removed if only a small area requires cleaning.
The fabric is a cut Velvet called “Valdese” color choice, a navy is called “Brigadier . I went with on “Bench seat and two back cushions and ordered pillow in these two accent fabrics . I am puling in deep and sofa aqua to complement the Navy. These colors also work great with the existing Dash and Albert Cats paws rug.
CHAIRS
I wanted the side chairs to be easy to move around. The room configuration will likely be changed for different purposes and I went with these beautiful chairs from JOYBIRD called the Collins chairs. The Upholstery is GUNSMOKE in a Belgian Linen weave. Very durable and neutral. My client found these adorable pillows on sale at Anthropologie that I think will work beautifully!
A FEW MONTHS AGO I SPIED THESE AMAZING NATE BERKUS SIDE TABLES AND HAVE BEEN SAVING THEM FOR THIS JOB. THEY ARE SUBSTANTIAL BUT AGAIN, LIGHT ENOUGH FOR A CHILD TO CARRY AND MOVE. THEY ARE A GREAT EHIGHT SHOULD A LITTLE ONE WANT TO STAND AND EAT A SNACK OR CAN BE PULLED OBER TO PLACE A LONG AWAITED COCKTAIL UPON! In short- they are PERFECT!!!!
COFFEE TABLE
I AM ON THE HUNT A COFFEE TABLE THAT IS ROUND. With crawlers and early walkers, there are no corners to crash into and they are easy for kids to crowd around to color and eat. I am also looking for a couple of foot stools that will be able to slide under the coffee table so the kids can pull them out to sit! I saw one that WAS made of reclaimed wood and just need to go back and take measurements….
I AM STILL PRICING AND LOOKING FOR AN APPROPRIATE CONSOLE FOR UNDER THE TELEVISION…AND ART ART ART!!!!!!!
NEXT WEEK WE TALK LIGHTING AND ACCESSORIES – BASKETS AND TABLE TOPPINGS!!!!!
BE-DEE-BE-DEE-BE-DEE – DATS ALL(FOR NOW) FOLKS!!!!
THANKS FOR HANGING IN THERE DURING ABSENCE DUE TO MY RECENT BOUT WITH THE NASTY FLU FOLLOWED BY OUR SPRING BREAK TO CHARLESTON…I AM BACK AND PLAN TO SHARE SO CHARLESTON OBSERVATIONS NEXT WEEK!!!!!! I LOVE CHARLESTON!!!!

Hi Cassie! So great to hear from you! No, our house is still on the market. This basement family room is for a client. But between you and me I would really like to stay at my house a couple more years. See my son through high school and then make a big move. We’ve got until summer and then whatever happens happens.
Hi Lesli…I love the blue and greige color scheme. And those doggie pillows are awesome! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
Thank you Wanda!!!
I just love those lamps, and the accent tables, and that chair. And that sofa! This is gonna be a good one – can’t wait to see it all come together!
