ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – LINKING EVENT – WEEK 3
THESE WEEKS ARE GOING WAAAAAYYYYYY TOO FAST!
How is it THURSDAY ALREADY??? My head is spinning…this month has been a whirlwind! And here we are and it is time to give you an UPDATE ON COOPER”S BEDROOM!!!!
When we left off…Cooper’s bedroom was being painted Benjamin Moore’s HORIZON.
HORIZON is a very soft, very pale warm but not too “greige” gray. It is perfect if you think you could almost go white, but are just not ready to have NO COLOR…and this color is a PERFECT backdrop to other colors…and brightens the room dramatically!!!

NOW WE SWITCH GEARS FROM WALL PAINTING TO FURNITURE PAINTING
COOPER is very involved in his room makeover and has final say on most decisions…when I say MOST…any “NO’s” I have to say usually have to do with BUDGET constraints…for example…I found my youngest looking at $13k dollar rugs one day…and he said …
“MOM! Wouldn’t this be great???”
to which I replied…”YES, when You can afford a 13K rug…by all means…go for it…but for now…let’s check out these ONE KINGS LANE! My Boy has very expensive taste!
……..another “battle”, not really a battle as much as a challenge of wills…and territory rights… has been over Painting the DRESSER….we got this dresser at the HABITAT store for $80. It has AWESOME lines…I absolutely LOVE this dresser, good large strong drawers for teenager sized clothing which in Cooper’s case is now grown-up sized clothing…I have some fantastic Bamboo inspired handles that I got on ETSY 3 years ago..just because I loved them too much and I can just PICTURE the transformation…paint this dresser A CREAMY WHITE OR BENJAMIN MOORE GRANITE—-ADD THE BAMBOO HANDLES —- BUT…Coops says “NOPE, I like it the way it is!” and so, it is going to stay the way it is….and I will just have to find another project for my ETSY Bamboo drawer-pulls!
NEXT UP – PAINTING THE BED
COOPER HAS a “HAND ME DOWN” bed …which was once Phoebe’s but is now 100% his. It is a 1960’S Beautiful VINTAGE-INSPIRED piece which came painted and which has since been re-painted OFF WHITE. I wanted it to be almost a tone off from the walls BUT DEFINATELY not soft or delicate…I remembered I had some of this great color which I had color-matched to the kids bathroom consoles…..
and then painted the living room sideboard with…
…it looks AMAZING….HERE IS A SNEAK PEEK….
NEXT WEEK WE WILL TACKLE ALL THINGS FABRIC INCLUDING PILLOWS AND RUGS AND BEDDING AND SEATING! THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF “RECYCLING” PROJECTS TAKING PLACE IN THIS CATEGORY!
CHECK OUT THE 20 – ONE ROOM CHALLENGE GUEST PARTICIPANTS AND TRACK THEIR PROGRESS TOO! THE challenges run the gamut, from color changes and swap outs to contractors and walls removed and gut renovations…you are likely to find many scenarios that are in your orbit right now and LOADS of INSPIRATION!
Can’t wait! Coming along nicely!
Hi…..can you please share the formula for your Lesli console gray…..thank you in advance
YEP! The formula on the can has paint over it, I will call Benjamin Moore tomorrow!
Hi….were you able to get the paint formula?
YES! IT is important to note that this should be mixed in Benjamin Moore paint, all bases are different and the outcome will NOT be the same if you use a different base/manufacturer
