WEEK 2 Of the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
brings us to…
NARROWING DOWN COOPER’S COLORS
PAINTING THE ROOM
COOPERS BEDROOM HAS BEEN BENJAMIN MOORE “POOLSIDE”
(NOT “poolside blue” – which is a very deep green blue aqua like a pool!!!!)
We have had the can of the “WINNING” NEW COLOR OF paint sitting in the HALL since the summer when I woke up with a ton of energy and thought we might paint his room. Thus he has had stripes of contender colors on his wall all summer..until NOW!
Here were some of the finalists and “runners-up”
AND THE WINNER IS –
WALLS: BENJAMIN MOORE HORIZON
COOPER DECIDED AGAINST STRAIGHT BLACK FOR THE ACCENTS AND WENT WITH….BENJAMIN MOORE – GRAPHITE
SIMPLE NEUTRALS – GRAYS, BLACK AND NATURAL WOOD GIVE A MORE GROWN UP FEEL TO THE ROOM….
FOR THE TRIM, WE STAYED WITH – CHANTILLY LACE, THIS IS THE COLOR OF PHOEBE’S WALLS AND TRIM AND SOON TO BE COLOR OF THE HALL TRIM…(I AM HAVING THE HALLS PAINTED IN A WEEK- MORE TO COME ON THAT!!!!)
I PAINTED THE BEDROOM WALLS AND FORGOT TO TAKE PHOTOS!!!!I KNOW, SHAMELESS…BUT BASICALLY IT WAS CUT AND DRY. I PRIMED THE WALLS (HINT – WHEN PRIMING OVER A DARK COLOR, HAVE THEM TINT THE PRIMER THE WALL COLOR. IT MADE SUCH A DIFFERENCE TO PAINT HORIZON PAINT OVER HORIZON PRIMER!
I HAVE DECIDED TO POSTPONE SHOWING YOU “AFTER” PHOTOS OF THE WALLS BECAUSE I AM DOING SO MANY OF THE ELEMENTS IN TANDEM THAT IT IS HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH PARTS WITHOUT SEEING “ALL”….IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT!!!
NEXT WEEK – FURNITURE TRANSFORMATIONS!!!!! RECYCLING THE OLD TO MAKE NEW!
CHECK OUT THE 20 – ONE ROOM CHALLENGE GUEST PARTICIPANTS AND TRACK THEIR PROGRESS TOO! THE challenges run the gamut, from color changes and swap outs to contractors and walls removed and gut renovations…you are likely to find many scenarios that are in your orbit right now and LOADS of INSPIRATION!

Looking forward to seeing the results (I used Chantilly Lace recently on a client’s barn doors and woodwork in the Shoppes of Palos. Very white, very clean color.)
LOVE Chantilly lace !
Whew, the world of gray paints is tough, so I’m going to have to check out Horizon. It’s lovely and not too, too gray. I’ve been leaning toward White Wisp, which is next to Gray Owl (lighter) on the swatch. It’ nearly white, but my room is not too bright, so it reads darker. In any case, thanks for the inspo! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
Cant wait to pull it all together!
Can’t wait to see more of Cooper’s room but this week I think Phoebe stole the show!!! 🙂
I think you are correct! xo
The bed in the inspiration room… can I just say… SWOON! Also, major congrats to Phoebe! At my high school Homecoming Queen didn’t just mean you were beautiful on the outside, it meant you were kind enough to others that many took note & voted for you. So great work on raising a great daughter.
Thank you Amy, I am partial but I have to agree, Phoebe is one of the sweetest souls I have ever known , truly kind and beautiful inside and out…and…I often look at her and think “I would have LOVED to be her friend!” Thanks for the kind words.
