It never ceases to amaze me how MUCH the simple re-arranging of furniture can inject a little bit of HAPPY into your day!
for years….I have wanted to do the “2 identical sofas facing each other” thing in our living room…but there were a few barriers. ONE – I did not have two identical sofas
… and TWO – with the sofas above -one has its back to the pocket doors… making it feel less open. So this L shape worked. THEN – I got two identical sofas and we kept the “L” shape…
So our LIVING ROOM ARRANGEMENT WAS AN “L” SHAPE…
THEN…. last week…I decided…”You know what! ..I piece by piece – like a GIANT TETRIS game…rearranged the living room and VOILA!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
Lets face it- quite often – what dictates the seating arrangement is the DURN TV…and Often, the placement of windows or door or window AND doors…add further restrictions to the furniture arrangement. Lets look at some of the possible LIVING ROOM CONFIGURATIONS….
I have gotten used to having our sofas and seating OFF the wall…but often that is not an option and to utilize every inch of space means having the furniture up against the walls. I am BIG fan of the SOFA TABLE…I find it easier to set things on a table than an end table…which often can get a mite crowded. I love a round coffee table …but a long coffee table is also great for maximum placement space.
THIS IS MY FAVE CONFIGURATION
CARLA AND I are also not big fans of the SOFA / LOVESEAT combination which can feel a little like a “sofa set” and prefer two chairs and a sofa if space is an issue.
the TWO SOFA – design also allows of something special (NOT THE TV) to take focus – like our mirror or this ART below.
here are some more beautiful Living rooms….with so many different lay outs…
What is your favorite Living room layout???

My goodness! If one could gain weight looking at all this eye candy I’d be in big trouble. I can’t decide which room is the best…..they are all great! Thank you Lesli.
I find it difficult to find the best furniture arrangement for my small living room, so this post was very inspiring!
There are some great first impressions with these great images this looks great
I finally gave in and bought a sofa and loveseat “set” in a very pale off white for my Florida waterfront living room. My condo has one long room that only divides the kitchen will a bar. There was nothing to divide the dining room from the living room except the furniture! Now it looks great with the off white, with very pale Ocean Air by Ben Moore walls. The French chairs are all going to be covered in an off white with in a very pale turquoise with a coral reef motif . All of this will face a whole wall of glass wall with a great view of the yachts passing on the water. I think this will be a very eloquent water front room.
In my larger house in the mountains I once had the 2 sofas facing each other with 24 feet of French doors for viewing the mountains. Although the fieldstone fireplace wall was the focal point. Every one loved it!
