THE DINING ROOM AND DOUBLE-DUTY ROOMS

THE DINING ROOM

Our Dining room BEFORE –

THE DINING ROOM – BEFORE- It is hard to see by this photo but the walls are covered in Grasscloth wallpaper – hung in 1967. The floors had never been refinished and you can see the lighter area in the center which was always covered by a rug.

TODAY – Our Dining Room is without a doubt the

MOST-USED room in our house. It serves double, sometimes TRIPLE duty as My ART Studio, where we DINE and the game/homework room.

When we first moved here, the kids were little – 3. 5 and 7. I liked being able to keep an eye on them and so the room that is JUST off the kitchen and is now the DINING room was ONCE a Playroom with a booth table where we ate most of our meals; the kids played games, watched videos and built legos.

THE DINING ROOM WHEN IT WAS A PLAYROOM

The Room that is NOW the living room with the Large Mirror was where we originally put the dining room. Are you still with me?

As the kids grew and became more independent , we moved the dining room to where it is now, off the kitchen. It has been about 5 different colors.

The color of the Dining Room now Sherwin Williams “Steamed Milk”. BUT – news flash –  I plan to paint it Mountain Peak White after we get back from Spring Break!!! The kitchen is Mountain Peak White so I think it will flow nicely – and I also hope to wallpaper one wall!

IN FULL STUDIO MODE!

For now it is a functional and pretty room – even if there are about a million things I would like to change – we will get to that later!

MY PINK CHAIRS ARE FROM TAR-JAY!

SAFAVEIH RUG – URBAN OUTFITTERS –
THE EXPANDING OAK TABLE IS INDISPENSIBLE!
EASTER TABLE TREATS – TARGET OF COURSE! I LOVE EASTER COLORS ALL YEAR LONG!

AS I SAID – THE DINING ROOM serves double duty and a Dining room and my Art Studio. It is easy to switch  (NOW) from one to the other – but it took a while to get systems in place. Most of the time the printer and the TV are on this dresser when I work but they can be tucked away of we are dining with guests.

THE MOST USED PIECE OF FURNITURE IS THE SIDEBOARD WHICH HOUSES ALL OF MY PAINT AND ART SUPPLIES – ONCE IT LOOKED LIKE THIS:

BIT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THIS!

THE SIDE BOARD – HAS SEEN BETTER DAYS – BUT BOY IS IT HANDY!!!!
STORMY THE CAT .

THERE YOU HAVE IT! The Dining room. Functional and practical with a little whimsy and color  – there are a million things I would love to do but – IT WORKS!
