THIS IS THE WEEK!!!!

….THE WEEK THAT WE INSTALL THE SLIDING BARN DOOR IN OUR  MASTER BATHROOM!!!!

…..I AM SO EXITED…AS IS MY HUSBAND WHO HAS HAD TO RESORT TO LOCKING ME OUT OF THE ENTIRE BEDROOM….TO GET HIS BATHROOM PRIVACY…

I AM A NOW TOTAL BARN/SLIDING DOOR CONVERT…I WANT TO PUT THEM EVERYWHERE!!!!!

ADDING OR REPLACING AN EXISTING DOOR WITH A SLIDING (BARN) DOOR) CAN TRANSFORM THE WAY YOUR HOME LOOKS AND THEY WAY YOU LINE IN YOUR HOME.

I CHOSE A SLIDING/BARN DOOR FOR TWO REASONS

1. SPACE

and

2. THEY LOOK EXTREMELY COOL

SPACE

I was told by a very wise person that a regular door in a door frame uses 7 square feet of space or rather…makes that space unavailable to YOU to use…and while space in our house is not usually and issue…space in almost every existing bathroom not owned by a “REAL HOUSEWIFE” is…

So any space that you can give back by NOT using a conventional door is going to be an improvement in your bathroom “experience”. And lets face it, we all (some more than others…) spend a good deal of time in the Bathroom!

2. THEY LOOK EXTREMELY COOL

……the hardest part for me was CHOOSING the FINISH and our hardware..REAL SLIDING HARDWARE has some of the best hardware choices I have seen…with a variety of finishes available….

I really was drawn to the more MODERN STAINLESS STEEL….but….

……..we chose the CLASSIC BARN DOOR HARDWARE  BELOW IN BRONZE…to complement the whole feel of our very NOT modern home…

 

SUZANNES BARN DOOR MAKEOVER

My friend Suzanne has a sweet cottage apartment in New York City. It is a dream home, with a garden, but like most New York apartments…every square inch of space is a premium…

she traded in traditional french doors separating her bedroom from the living room for sliding doors and the transformation has been incredible…

Suzanne also added a small sliding door from her kitchen to her bathroom..a door which used to come OUT into the kitchen and took a greats deal of usable space…the door is a functional part of both her kitchen and bathroom….and so beautiful!!!

YOU can get as creative as you want with the handles you choose…I love Suzanne’s heavy Rustic handles and the beautiful vintage inspired green glass paneled doors. The kitchen/bathroom door in my opinion is VINTAGE COTTAGE perfection..complete with the vintage (WORKING) towel drying rack!!!

……SO MANY CHOICES…. we chose the BRONZE FLUSH PULL inset handle on the TOP RIGHT ABOVE for the BEDROOM SIDE (it needs to be shallow so as not to hit the wall) and THE FIXTURE BELOW FOR THE BATHROOM SIDE…

I challenge you to take a walk around your house and I bet you can find at least one if not more places where NOT having a door swinging back into a room would be a BONUS…space saver…and all around HAPPY PILL for your house!!!

NEXT….A LL THE DOOR POSSIBILITIES…HERE IS ONE THAT CAUGHT MY EYE…..
