Last weekend I was the guest of honor at A “Meet the Artist” gathering at the
Hotel Indigo is an adorable boutique Hotel which lies just 3 blocks from Central Avenue in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, just steps from top museums, attractions, and restaurants. While I was only there for a mere 24 hours I had some time to explore and was completely smitten with the area…it reminds me a bit of parts of Los Angeles….
The Hotel Indigo is a HUGE supporter of new and emerging ART work and rotates Artists though on an annual basis. At the Meet the Artist Gathering, the attendees are given the opportunity to choose (by placing a sticker by their favorite) which piece of ART will become part of the Hotel’s permanent collection.
the guest chose one of my all time favorites…
…..another component of the evening was the presentation of a Custom Pet portrait (by me) which had been won at a fundraiser for a local shelter called Pet Pals.
Pet Pals is a little different that many shelters..”Our mission is rescue animals from other shelters that may be at risk of being euthanized due to illness, injury, or lack of socialization or training. We also promote responsible animal ownership through spay and neuter services. We do not accept strays.”
I had been in contact with the winner and when she told me about her dog “Abby”…. it became quite clear that Abby had a best friend..Diego, and that the two should be painted together.
…THE EVENING WAS A WHIRLWIND….I was surrounded by dear friends and family who had traveled to see me…it all went too fast..
.before I knew it…my friend Robin, who had picked me up with balloons in the car….
was taking me back to the airport…
The show at the Hotel Indigo will be there through summer 2014 and all of the paintings are for sale (except Johann) If you are interested in any of them, they can be shipped directly from the Hotel to your home! Just email me for pricing. If you mention this blog post and tell me who won you will receive 20% off any painting you choose!!!…this offer is good throughout the show, but only applies to paintings in the show at the Hotel Indigo.
