SPRING BREAK – I AM WRITING THIS as I look across at the ocean…nice….
A FEW WEEKS AGO, my neighbor, knowing my YEARS long quest to find a Spindle/Spool Bed alerted me to one she had seen at an Antiques store nearby. I drove to the store TUCKAHOE ANTIQUES…I always LOVE finding these places, just a few miles from my house and wonder “HOW did I NEVER know this was here?!”
My trip was not wasted..the BED was even better than I could have dreamed, the EXACT style I have looked for…PLUS they were having a 30% off sale and I bought it on the spot! I think it was a steal at $105!
As usual, the bed frame rested in the hall for a month, waiting for the Bedroom makeover to begin…but then, Phoebe got a concussion sledding on ICE runs which she and her brother constructed during the last snow storm…in the back yard…and was home from school for a few weeks…We decided to go ahead and get her a NEW mattress and get the bed set up sooner vs later…
There was an little…well NOT SO LITTLE “mattress” issue which required some DIY savvy which I am saving to discuss in this Thursdays One Room Challenge POST…
I AM OFF TO THE BEACH!!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
PS – If you are looking for antiques, I highly recommend you check out the TUCKAHOE ANTIQUES website!!!! – They update their site pretty regularly and I think their prices are great. They are owned by the same people who own the COVESVILLE STORE … and COVESVILLE is LEGEND around here in the ANTIQUES DEPARTMENT!!! It reminded me of the ANTIQUE stores my Mom used to drag take us to…not a piece of painted furniture in the place…just great Antiques!!!…
AHHH the beach!! Enjoy!! And you found a house that allows pets!!!!!
Love that bed!! I wanted a spool bed when I was in HS. I fell in love with one in an antique shop in Northern VA and it was not a reasonable price for a teen bedroom!! I still have a soft spot for spool beds. I can’t wait to see the makeover. I’m knee deep in my ORC and not nearly as organized in my direction as Phoebe!
I can probably guess what the DIY will be… We bought an antique Brass bed as newlyweds and learned that beds and mattresses were not so “standardized” in years past!!
Marcie
Thank you Marcie, You are VERY warm regarding the DIY!! Tune in Thursday!!! xoxoxox
Can you share the name of the store? This bed is a treasure!
TUCKAHOE Antiques, on rt 151 near Wintergreen..worth a day trip!
Great find! I will have to take the trip out to Tuckahoe Antiques soon! My Grandmother had a spindle bed that was auctioned off…I tried for a long time to track it down. I’m still bummed about it!
You will love it. Stop for dinner at Blue Ridge Brewery and get the pressed Cuban!!! Incredible!!!
Covesville and Tuckahoe are favorite haunts of mine. Such a wonderful stuff and the prices are insanely reasonable. The owners must be magic, because that’s the only way I can figure that they keep such a fantastic stream of antiques coming into both locations.
For those who are interested, they post new items on their web site on Friday afternoons. Even if you’re not close enough to shop in person, scrolling through the new things each week is a must do!

Thanks Connie..they really are Old School awesome!!!! xo
Absolutely lovely find there! I do agree, DO NOT PAINT THAT BED! The wood is just too gorgeous. Enjoy the beach!
